Several Boston merchants engage in selling supplies to French troops in Canada.

Taking advantage of a truce and prisoner exchange, the merchants, allegedly with the permission of Gov. Thomas Dudley, attempt to profit by doing business with the enemy. The General Court attempts to try the merchants and Dudley for treason. But first Dudley’s name is removed from the complaint and then the Queen’s Privy Council forces the court to drop charges altogether.
